Introducing...
Fred Ingersoll
Location: Stoughton, WI (a hotbed of
Norwegians)
Date of Amputation/Cause: I had a through the elbow
amputation on March 20, 2005. It was due to a blood clot and Compartment
Syndrome setting in as a result of taking an artery from the left forearm for a
heart bypass operation three weeks earlier.
Prosthesis: I expect to get a hook type prosthesis.
Curious if I will use it very much or not. I feel fortunate that it was not my
dominant hand. I think that it would be tough at my age to learn to
use the other hand.
Amp Events Attended: None
Other Information: I am 73 years old. My wife and I have
six children, fifteen grandchildren and one great grand child with two more on
the way. My wife has been in a nursing home with Alzheimer's for the past
two years. I enjoy the outdoors and look forward to learning to fish one
handed and to take up golf too.
